Sustainability and care for the environment are at the heart of our current concerns. We know that everything we do has an impact on the well-being of our planet, and our choice of cleaning products is no exception.

Although it may seem paradoxical, modern times are leading us to rescue natural ingredients as powerful allies in the battle against household dirt. Thus, we have rediscovered that our grandmothers’ recipes for cleaning spaces have always been very successful. Opting for the combo of vinegar, lemon, and baking soda not only ensures cleanliness but also promotes a healthier and more ecological environment in your surroundings.

But how should you use them? Below is a simple guide.

The alchemy of natural ingredients

Vinegar. This is a formidable degreaser. Its power to dissolve grease is amazing, making it an essential ally for cleaning extractor hoods.

Use vinegar by mixing it with equal parts of hot water in a spray bottle and apply the solution to greasy surfaces. Leave the mixture on for a few minutes and then wipe with a soft cloth to reveal a shiny, grease-free hood.

An important thing to know is that vinegar has antimicrobial properties. Scientific research has shown that it can kill a variety of pathogens, including E. coli.

Lemon: Do you want to give a fresh and citric touch to your cleaning? Lemon is your best option. Cut a lemon in half and with its juice, make a mixture with water, use it to rub the areas where grease has accumulated on the external parts of the extractor. You can also soak the mesh filter in hot water and lemon for 5 minutes and you will see how the grease will easily disappear.

Lemon has a natural acid that dissolves dirt and leaves a pleasant aroma in your kitchen. In addition, its disinfectant effect is ideal for maintaining a hygienic surface where your food is prepared.

Baking Soda. This white powder is a true all-purpose household cleaner. To clean the filters of your extractor hood, prepare a paste with baking soda and water.

Apply this mixture to the filters and let it work for a few minutes. Then, using a soft brush or sponge, gently scrub to remove grease and impurities, rinse with warm water, and allow to air dry.

The importance of an impeccable hood

Keeping your extractor hood clean is more than just an aesthetic issue, it’s a safety issue. Grease buildup on the appliance can obstruct airflow, making it difficult for the extractor hood to function properly. This affects the efficiency of smoke and odor extraction, and also increases the risk of overheating and, in extreme cases, could cause kitchen fires.

Imagine enjoying a shiny kitchen, free of lingering odors, and with an extractor hood that works perfectly. With these simple tricks and the smart use of natural ingredients, you can make it happen. Plus, by choosing environmentally friendly cleaning products, you contribute to a more sustainable and healthier lifestyle for you and the planet.
