The Middle East, with its constantly evolving urban landscape, has witnessed the rise of numerous skyscrapers that have redefined the region’s architectural scenery. These majestic structures have not only transformed the skyline of cities such as Dubai and Abu Dhabi but have also left an indelible mark on the region’s culture and identity.

Designed by renowned architect Adrian Smith, the Jeddah Tower promises to redefine the standards of modern architecture with an impressive height of 1,000 meters and a floor area of 245,000 square meters spread over 252 floors.

This architectural marvel will house a combination of luxury apartments, state-of-the-art offices, and an exclusive 200-room hotel. It will also feature the world’s tallest observatory, located on an open terrace almost 30 meters in diameter, offering unparalleled views.

Completion date and builders

The construction of the Jeddah Tower began in 2013, but the project has faced some setbacks. After five years in progress, the construction of the Desert Giant was halted in 2018.

However, although at the time it had only reached a quarter of its projected height, it was already almost at the same level as the Burj Khalifa, Dubai’s tallest skyscraper which stands at 830 meters.

The project, which is being carried out by the Jeddah Economic Company (JEC), aims to take protagonism away from other constructions in the region. The completion of the project is officially scheduled for 2025.

Building Location

Located in the coastal city of Jeddah, Saudi Arabia, the Jeddah Tower will rise majestically beside the Red Sea, becoming an iconic symbol of modernism and progress in the region. This city, the second largest in the country, is known for its vibrant culture and thriving economy, and Jeddah Tower will add to its rich architectural heritage.

The total cost of the construction of the Jeddah Tower has not yet been disclosed. However, some sources claim that the investment is significant due to its size and complexity and is estimated to be close to US$1.23 billion.

With a planned height of almost 1,000 meters, the tower will be approximately 172 meters taller than the Burj Khalifa, the tallest building in the world today, making it a true titan in the sky.

A sustainable giant

The Jeddah Tower is designed with a focus on sustainability and energy efficiency. The project is expected to incorporate innovative technologies, such as renewable energy systems, and smart resource management, to minimize its environmental impact.

Also, high-quality and environmentally friendly construction materials are being used to ensure the building’s durability and energy efficiency.

It is also known that the Jeddah Tower will be a mixed-use building, with residential, retail, and office space. It will also feature a luxury hotel and observation deck, offering a comprehensive experience for residents and visitors alike.

With its innovative design and prime location, the Jeddah Tower will become a premier destination for both business and pleasure.
