Today, one of the most interesting projects in progress is certainly the Eden Project by the London studio Grimshaw. The Eco-resort, designed for Eden Project International, an environmentally-friendly charitable organization in Cornwall, will be located on the waterfront in Lancashire, United Kingdom.

According to its creators, this resort will be an impressive coastal attraction since it combines indoor and outdoor experiences in a prominent place in the Bay of Morecambe.

Jolyon Brewis, a partner at Grimshaw, recently stated that due to the extraordinary natural beauty of Morecambe Bay and the distinctive approach of this resort, it will become a historic destination of both national and international importance.

5 Mussels looking for financing

Grimshaw studio has already released the first images of Eden Project North. The images show five curvilinear pavilions that resemble mussel shells that crown the seafront.

Each mussel works like a greenhouse that houses different marine environments. Brewis explains that the idea of this distribution is that each one introduces visitors into the “internationally meaningful” natural environment of Morecambe Bay.

Additionally, the pavilions will include gardens, and gardens combined with a mix of observatories and performance spaces, which will be used to promote wellbeing. Also, the whole complex will be surrounded by walkways and squares, which extend downward from the pavilions to connect the land and the sea.

However, Eden Project North is looking for funding. The feasibility study of the project was completed in September and its developers hope to find companies interested in the same.

Likewise, developers hope that the proposed investment scheme reflects the beneficial impact this project can generate in the social, economic, and environmental aspects of this area.

A safe bet

Eden Project North already has a southern twin that has already contributed 2.55 billion dollars to the local economy. The Eden project of Grimshaw was opened in an old clay well in St. Austell in 2001 and has received more than 20 million visitors.

Eden Project North is a project developed by the Grimshaw Studio, which designed the world-famous Rainforest and Mediterranean Biomes. Thanks to its experience with the design of structures that aim at celebrating the environment Grimshaw hopes to replicate the success of the Eden project with this magnificent structure that will take advantage of the marine environment that surrounds Morecambe.
